SUMMER SUN - Natural Sunscreen & Skin Care

I LOVE the Summertime Sun!!!

How do you like to soak up those summertime rays?

It feels (and looks) good on the skin, enlivens the body and mind,

and induces melatonin production (a natural anti-aging, antioxidant and sleep enhancer). Adequate sunshine is also necessary for production of Vitamin D.

Did you know, broad skin exposure (without clothing or sunscreen) of summer sunshine for 30 minutes can synthesis between 10,000 and 20,000 IU of vitamin D?

Now that’s good Vitamin D!

I know what you are thinking, "Hold up, what about sun protection and sun screen?"

Much is to be said for this and has been and can be viewed in this link.

Three important things to keep in mind about sun protection:

Studies have shown many sunscreens accelerate rather than prevent skin cancer. (2)

According to the FDA, “Data fails to show that sunscreen use alone helps prevent premature skin aging and skin cancer.” (3)

Effective anti-oxidants, such as Astaxanthin , are true natural skin protectors that work as a sunscreen from the inside out when taken daily. (4)

Other Summer Sun Skin Care Tips

- Spent too much time in the sun? Aloe from an aloe plant is super soothing to the skin is filled with glyconutrients that accelerate healing and have anti-inflammatory properties. (5)

- Getting a little overheated in the outdoors? Grab a spray bottle of water add 2 – 3 drops of doTerra Peppermint Oil and have available to spray yourself down for an all-over cool down (my doggie Gouda loves this sprayed on her belly too, when it gets a little warm for her black fur).

- An excellent after-sun oil when you’ve spent all day out on the waves or in the sand is doTerra Lavendar. Add a drop of the oil to a teaspoon of doTerra fractionated coconut oil and massage it into that sun-kissed skin for an inviting aroma and wonderful skin benefits.
