Are You Cheating?

Pilates is easy…if you're cheating...


Years ago, I saw this quote…. “The great thing about Pilates is that it's easy to do… unless you do it right.”


I love it because it is SO True!


Because I LOVE to tease and challenge my clients to their best ability… I tease them with a slight variation on the above...

“Pilates is easy...if you are cheating...” ... LOL! And this is also so true!


Have you been “cheating” in your Pilates (and don’t even know it)?


As a teacher, some of the common “cheats” I recognize during a Pilates session are when:

- Alignment is not being maintained and/or... - Focus is being placed on movement without... - Control of the opposition/resistance!


These 3 disciplines Alignment, Focus and Control will either MAKE your Pilates effective or just be another work-out.


Reformer Suspended Frog

A quick Pilates exercise example, Suspended Frog, is a great Pilates movement on the Reformer to challenge CoeDynamics clients with at the Redondo Beach studio both in groups and privates. This combination exercise of Short Spine and Frog builds core, hip and leg strength while aligning the spine and hips. Without focus to the movement or to reformer use, along with control from an inner core contraction to hold your body weight up, one will drop directly on to the back ☹ Joseph Pilates still says it best …
